Some Keyboard Shortcuts for FIREFOX

Using anything in computers with help of both keyboard & mouse  limits our speed of working.So I am here to speed up some of the aspects of it by using (as much as possible) the KEYBOARD  for all my  tasks and here are some keyboard shortcuts for MOZILLA FIREFOX(one of the most popular & used browser).

FIREFOX KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

CTRL + T: Opens a new tab.

CTRL + R: Reloads the current tab.

CTRL + H: View your browsing history in a sidebar

CTRL + SHIFT + TAB: Moves to the previous tab.

CTRL + Z: Undo last action

CTRL + SHIFT + Z: Redo last action

CTRL + J: Opens your Firefox download manager

CTRL + TAB: Moves to the next tab.

CTRL + SHIFT + T: Restore the last closed tab

CTRL + number: Change to the tab with this number

CTRL + F4: Close the current tab

CTRL + ENTER: Auto-complete URL to .com

CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER: Auto-complete URL to .org

CTRL + L: Highlights the URL in the browser address bar

CTRL + HYPHEN: Decrease text size on the webpage

CTRL + PLUS: Increase text size on the webpage

CTRL + N: Opens a new Firefox window

CTRL + S: Download the current webpage page as a HTML file

ALT + F4: Close the browser window

SHIFT + ENTER: Auto-complete URL to .net

F5: Reload the current tab

CTRL + D: Add webpage to bookmarks

ALT + Home: Loads your start page.

F11: Go full screen / normal screen

Space: Scroll down the page

ESC: Stop

How To Hide Text In Notepad

This is a Simple tweak to HIDE TEXT IN NOTEPAD.
NOTE: This trick can only be run on NTFS File systems
Steps to hide text in a Notepad



1. Open your command prompt Start–>Run and Type cmd

2. Type the below code in your command prompt
notepad filename.txt:hidden
3. Write some data and save(Ctrl+S) the file.
4. Browse to the file location and Open filename.txt you cannot see any data in the file.
5. To retrieve the hidden data open command prompt and type the same command.

notepad filename.txt:hidden

How To Hide Partitions Without Using Any Software

Here is a simple Tip to hide HDD Partition without the use of any Software !!!

By using Command Prompt.

1. Go to Start–>Run.
2. Type Diskpart and press Enter.
3. In the console type List volume to see all the drives available on your PC.
4. Now select the drive which you want to hide.
Note:
Here I have shown how to hide E drive.
5. In My PC it is volume 2 for drive E .
6. Now to hide drive E type Select volume 2 .

7. Then type remove letter e , this will hide your drive.
8. Now to get your drive back type Select volume 2 and then type assign letter e.

 

Hide Partitions Using Computer Management

1. Right click My Computer.
2. Click Manage or press letter G.

3. This will open Computer Management.
4. Under Storage, select Disk Management.
5. Right click on the drive which you wish to hide.

6. Select Change drive letters and paths...

7. Click Remove

8. Now can find your partition will be hidden.
9. To get back the partition Computer Management–>Select drive–> Change drive letters and paths
10. Now select Add option.
11. In that Assign the following drive letter.
12. Select ok.

How To Block Sites On Computer Without Using Software

Want to block certain Websites without using any Software /Antivirus/Firewall .Here is a nice Tip:
NOTE:- This can only be used on XP,VISTA & & Platform
Follow the steps below to learn how to block sites on computer.

• Go to Run(Windows Key + R)
• Type C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
• Hit enter
• Open the file as Notepad
• Type 127.0.0.1 www.yoursitedomain.com below 127.0.0.1 local host
• Save it.
• Done!

NOTE:- In Window 7 & Vista Open NOTEPAD in ADMIN MODE & browse for the file to edit it.ENJOY!!!

Things you can do with VLC …

VLC Media player is a very nice player for almost all kind of media’s.You  have just used it for playing your favorite media but it can do a lot other then these .Checkout these features  of VLC & let us know did you know about them or not.

1. Rip DVDs:

VLC includes also a  DVD ripper. You probably would never use it , but it helps you in getting a  decent quality DVD rip with VLC. To rip a movie follow these steps: Go to the Media menu and choose Convert–>Save. Click on the Disc tab.

• Here you can adjust the Starting Position and rip only specific titles or chapters.
• Enter file name making sure to end with .MPG, and start ripping.
• Click Save.

2. Record videos:

With the new VLC, you can record videos during playback. The record button is hidden by default. To see it, click on View–>Advanced Control. The record button will now appear. Clicking on the button while playing a movie or video will start recording. Clicking again will stop recording.

3. Play RAR files:

Do you know VLC can play videos zipped inside RAR files? They play like normal video files and you can even use the seek bar. If the RAR file is split into several files, no problem. Just load the first part (.part001.rar ) and it will automatically take the rest of the parts and play the whole file.

4. Play in ASCII mode:

VLC media player has an amusing ability, to playback movies in ASCII art. To enable ASCII mode, open VLC media player and click on Tools –>Preferences. Open the section “Video” section and under “Output” select “Color ASCII art video output” from the drop down menu. Save it. Now play any video file to enjoy the ASCII art.

5. Listen to online radio:

VLC includes hundreds of Shout cast radio stations. You just need to enable it through Media –>Services Discovery –> Shout cast radio listings. Now, open the Playlist and browse through the stations.

6. Convert Audio and Video formats:

In VLC you can convert video and audio files from one format to another. Several different formats are supported like MP4, WMV, AVI, OGG, MP3 etc. To access the converter:
* Go to Media –>Convert/Save.
* Load the file you want to convert using the Add button and click Convert.
* Now choose the output format and output file location.

7. Download YouTube and other online videos:

First grab the URL of the YouTube video page. Now click on Media –>Open Network stream. Paste the URL and click Play.
Once VLC starts streaming the video, click Tools –>Codec Information and at the bottom of the window you will see a Location box. Copy the URL and paste it on your browser’s address bar. The browser will now download the file which you can save it to your hard disk. Alternatively, you can record the video.

Create a “NEW FOLDER” using keyboard shortcut…

Usually we create new folder by using the mouse (right click and then go to new & create new folder).But if u want to create a new folder using the keyboard then here is a simple tip:

For window XP,VISTA & 7

Hold down Alt key + F, then let go of the Alt key and press W + F. This will create new folder

This not actually a keyboard shortcut. We are using the menu bar using keyboard.Still a useful shortcut…

Exclusive for Window 7

Just press Ctrl + Shift + N to create a new folder instantly in Windows 7.

How To Install Windows 7 From USB Drive [Detailed 101% Working Guide]

This is a small tutorial is to install window from your USB drive,I have myself done this method to install window 7 ultimate edition on one of my friend laptop as his DVD Drive wasn't working & he want a complete formatting of his HDD from the starting,this can be done only by booting the DVD as the DVD Drive wasn't working ,so I create a bootable USB Drive to do the things for me .This guide is very easy ,you can also use this to solve your problems. HERE is the starting

THINGS ALL YOU NEED …

A USB Drive (Minimum of 4GB )

Window 7 installation files

THAT’s IT

Now let us start our guide…

Plug in you USB Drive to your USB port & backup all data from it as we are going to format it.

Open Command prompt BUT with AMIN rights , to do this just do the following

Click on the start menu & type CMD ,there comes a single result ,right click on it & click “Run as administrator”

see the SNAPSHOT BELOW.

You can use any method of your choice to open it but just remember to open it with admin rights

Type the command “DISKPART” NOW you have to find something more about your USB attached SO… TYPE “LIST DISK” & it shows the partitions of your USB and some unpartitioned space  of your HDD , Now note down the Disk Number of the drive shown after the command ,You can easily find out the disk number of your USB just checking the space of each drive , in this guide my USB disk number is Disk 1

  Now type these commands one by one , here I am assuming that your USB disk number is DISK 1, but if you have disk 2 as your disk number , just replace “DISK 1 “ from  “ DISK 2”.

SELECT DISK 1

CLEAN

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY

SELECT PARTITION 1

ACTIVE

FORMAT FS=NTFS

(Format process may take few seconds)

ASSIGN

EXIT

Now don’t exit the command prompt just minimize it. 

Next insert your window 7/ vista DVD into the DVD Drive.

Note down the drive letter of your drive .In this guide my drive letter is I:

Maximize the command prompt again  and follow the instruction or type these command ,just remember to replace your DVD drive & USB  Drive letter to the corresponding ones in this instructions.

I:   <Where I is your DV Drive letter>

CD BOOT

Now Type

BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60  K:  <Where K: is my USB drive letter >

Once you have entered all the commands above . COPY all the material from your DVD Drive to USB Drive.

Now your bootable pen drive is ready to install windows . just Boot from it & install window 7 normally u do !!!

Note: If you are not able to boot after following this guide means you haven’t set the BIOS priority to USB. If you got any problem in following this guide feel free to ask questions by leaving comment.
